What problem did the client want to solve with the project?
The clients were looking to add usable living space to their existing home that was comfortable year round and provided plentiful natural light.
How did you solve the problem?
- Well insulated sunroom addition with a cathedral ceiling, recessed lighting, lots of larger windows and a mini-split for heating/cooling
Project Details:
The Cozy, Comfortable & Quiet Sunroom Addition was a straightforward project, but with a strong emphasis on a well insulated envelope. Why do we care about the envelope? A proper envelope ensures that the space is cozy, comfortable and quiet, making it enjoyable year-round.
For efficient temperature control, we installed a split system for both heat and air conditioning – not too hot or too cold, but just right. The combination of large windows with a cathedral ceiling and recessed lighting really made the space feel open and bright. To draw the eye upwards, we incorporated a painted v-groove pine ceiling with a contrasting wood beam. The perfect compliment to the wood beam on the ceiling, we installed hardwood floors throughout.
- Scope: NEW 4 season sunroom addition
